Description
The Colima “dancing dogs” depict the ancient Tlalchichi, a companion animal of the Colima people in pre-Columbian Mexico. Sculpted in warm terracotta with rounded forms and expressive posture, these figures were often placed in tombs as spiritual guides, believed to help souls navigate the journey to the afterlife. Both playful and symbolic, they embody loyalty, protection, and the intimate relationship between daily life and the sacred in Mesoamerican culture.
