Aceite evolved out of a distinct memory Ivan has from his childhood in Mexico. He remembers a family renovation, in which the oil tank used to heat the home burst. As the oil spilled across the concrete and sand, it created vivid and unexpected patterns that Ivan remembers to this day. Much to the vexation of his mother, Ivan threw himself into the mess, trying to create his own unique markings with the oil in the backyard. Many years later, and in what seems a world apart, Ivan has succeeded at last in creating a memorable design that captures his childhood memory, this time on a luxurious fabric.
